The Second Stage revival, which premiered Off-Broadway last year, begins October 9 at the Hayes Theater.
Four performers who appeared in Second Stage Theater’s Off-Broadway revival of Harvey Fierstein’s Torch Song will reprise their performances in this fall’s Broadway transfer, reuniting with the previously announced Michael Urie and Mercedes Ruehl.
Officially added to the Broadway company are Ward Horton as Ed, Roxanna Hope Radja as Laurel, Michael Hsu Rosen as Alan, and Jack DiFalco as David.
Performances will begin October 9 at the Hayes Theater (currently home to Second Stage’s Lobby Hero), where it will officially open November 1.
Urie stars as Arnold Beckoff, a drag performer who navigates both the liberation and assimilation of gay men in 1980s New York, as well as a back-and-forth plea for respect from his overbearing mother (Ruehl).
Moisés Kaufman's staging, which condenses Fierstein's original Torch Song Trilogy into two acts, played the Tony Kiser Theater last fall. The limited engagement will play the Hayes (where the play first premiered on Broadway in 1982, then the Little Theatre) as the third production under Second Stage's ownership of the venue, following the current Lobby Hero and upcoming Straight White Men.
